Climate change and natural farming

When air temperatures exceeded 15 degrees, nature began to activate. Insects began to fly, birds to sing, their mobility increases.

When daytime temperatures exceed 14-15 degrees for a few days, living things wake up.

When nighttime temperatures exceed 6-7 degrees for a few days, trees begin to wake up, which is a very dangerous situation.

Climate change and global warming in particular cause a great deal of confusion for all living things. Creatures that encounter temperatures that shouldn’t have been in February begin to wake up and suffer severe damage with the immediate frosts that follow. In addition, not only the flowers, but the tree itself is seriously damaged.

Next week we will see -10 degrees again. Heavy frosts, snow and high winds are upon us again. It’s safe to say we’ve lost the almond trees that are in bloom. There probably won’t be a serious almond crop this year.

Wow if we were a monocultural almond farm…but over 200 different types of fruit and different types of trees are our biggest guarantee for these situations. This year, almonds will be scarce but will come with another abundance of fruit. Nature will have its way. Maybe this year we need to eat apples or pears, not almonds, to be healthy…

There are serious differences between types of almonds as well. While trees purchased from nurseries are easily fooled by changing weather temperatures, the situation is different for almonds grown from seed.

The date when fruit trees purchased from a nursery will bloom and fruit in a certain time. It is specially chosen. However, this is not the case with trees that grow from seeds and do not have human intervention. Their ability to adapt is much stronger and they are not easily fooled by changing weather temperatures. Of course, within limits.

Farming is becoming more difficult day by day. Our lands are poisoned, the waters are poisonous, and we are about to lose the last seeds we have. And when you add climate change, the situation becomes very difficult for farmers.

If you leave a bird in the forest that has lived in a cage for years, it will not survive. However, the situation is very different for a bird that was born and raised in the forest. If you want to grow healthy plants and someday get to the point of doing nothing, grow trees from seed. No watering, no fertilizing, just love. It will find its way.

This situation, which will become more serious in the coming years, we have no choice but to act as soon as possible.

Note: The first 3 photos are an almond tree under the arms of the fig tree, fooled by air temperatures and in bloom.
