In The Era Of Climate Change: The Natural Farming and The Precautions To Take

In Southern Europe, the average temperature in February is the same as June’s, which is unbelievable!

Yesterday I saw a plum tree started to blossom. Moreover, it was not 3 or 5 flowers on it, the whole tree was full of flowers just like it is in “full blossom”.

If climate change goes like this, 90 percentage of summer fruits and 60 percentage of winter fruits will be in danger. We are 38 days ahead of the “normal season”

The food prices will increase as well as the chemical usage in farming (as it is known when a tree is in a blooming period, they interfere with chemicals and change the hormones to fasten the growing time) And even it will get harder to reach those foods. Scenarios are so bad that we need to act immediately.

So on a natural farm, what can we do about this issue?
I am mostly going talk about the agricultural aspect of climate change instead of how to fight with itself.
First of all, the most crucial thing is to grow trees from the seed. The trees grown from the seed are more resistant to the changing climate conditions, drought and, unexpected natural events. And in every next generation, they get more and more resistant and adapted.

About the plum tree, we lost whole the fruits because of early blossoming and who knows what expects us next year. Unfortunately, there are plenty of trees that are about to blossom untimely and the only exception is those growing from the seed. They know when to blossom because of their ability to change with the changing climate unlike the seedlings we buy.

Furthermore, to increase the water absorption capacity of the soil is another key point. It is necessary to keep rainwater in the soil even in unstable or excessive rain seasons. The several ways to do this are increasing fertility, organic material of the soil and spreading more seeds.

Let’s do all this together, let’s act now, right now… Before it is too late.

We are going to talk about all these and more in two organizations that will take place in Sardinia Island (held 3 days) and in İzmir (held 5 days) in May 2020. Like all the events, they are open to everybody and free of charge. You are all invited!
