“No other plants will grow under the walnut tree.” is a myth that is wrongly known and cited in chemical agriculture.
In these photos, you can see apple, pear and cherry trees grown under not one but two large walnut trees, besides they are about to blossom. In the summer, I am going to add photos of the ripening fruits among the walnut trees.
There is only one key factor to grow all kinds of plants under, above, right or left of the walnut tree: a healthy, living, fertile soil. Everything else is a detail.
