We added 100 more fruit types to the farm. These fruit types come from the year before 1850. We have received them as they had to be, they are grafted on wild root stock and have primary central root system.<\/p>\n

Seedlings came from Italy the biggest seedling manufacturer of Europe. It is an organization that works to protect and reproduce all fruit types in the world. They even have the fruit seedlings that grow up in Turkey\u2019s greenfinch and exist before the year 1850.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, every seedling is guaranteed against every known disease. (I don\u2019t what kind of \u201cguarantee\u201d is this but they also brought the certificates showing that they are strong against diseases like leaf curly for peach or monilia for cherry and apricot.)<\/p>\n

The prices of the seedlings are just insane. I will also share the progress of the process of these seedlings later. You can see the grape seedlings in the last two photos.<\/p>\n

According to plant classification accepted in the world, the fruit trees which also existed before the year 1850 are called as \u201crustic\u201d(natural, original, ancestry, ancient, old?)<\/p>\n

The fruit trees come from the year before 1950 are hardly accepted as \u201cnatural\u201d. The types that came out after the year 1950, the situation changes(except for the trees grown from the seed). As technology advances, human desires also getting bigger as we can even see the trees growing in 2d dimensions. But of course, that\u2019s not our topic.<\/p>\n

The fruit trees that existed before the year 1850 have adapted to nature, life and earth basically. It might wrong to use the word \u201cadapt\u201d because it is life itself. Are these trees not getting sick? Of course, they probably are. But they are not weak and unhealthy like the trees nowadays.<\/p>\n

It is true that with the advance of the pharmacology human life also have gotten longer but the diseases that happen to humans increased so much more. In modern days, after a certain age, most people are spending their time in the hospital in their last years of life. Actually, It is also similar for seedlings. The fruits may be smaller and less shiny but it is much stronger as a living being. They can keep living without being taken care of, meaningless chemicals and fertilizers.<\/p>\n

So how are these types are selected or are they valuable in terms of marketing?<\/p>\n

Not all of them have marketing values but they are all consumable, healthy and delicious types. At this point, some seedlings manufacturers show up.<\/p>\n

They get the fruits which existed before the year 1850 that has marketing value and are reproducing them from the seeds. Then they are using a branch of a tree that grew from the seed is to graft the seedlings with it. In this way, they reproducing the ancestry fruit seedlings which has both untamed root system and marketing value. It is rare to see producers who produce the seedlings like this. I couldn\u2019t find any of them in Turkey despite looked for them a lot. (If you have heard a producer like this, I would be glad If you could give me the contact information of them.) I couldn\u2019t find any of them in Greece either. In Edessa, they sell per seedlings for 1 euro but most of them are produced in labs.<\/p>\n
